INCUBUS And SONY MUSIC Kiss And Make Up
April 11, 2003INCUBUS and Sony Music have kissed and made up after the company offered $11 million in incentives as part of a new three-album contract. "Sony Music and INCUBUS have amicably resolved their differences, and will continue with their highly successful relationship," a joint statement issued by the company and band read in its entirety. Under the terms of the new deal, the band will get an $8 million advance for its next album, and Sony will forget about the $3 million in unrecouped costs that stood between the INCUBUS and manager Steve Rennie and their next royalty check, according to Hits Daily Double. The resolution of the legal face-off between the two parties means that a test of the notorious seven-year statute has once again been sidestepped. INCUBUS, who signed with Immortal/Sony in 1996, had cited the statute in their lawsuit, filed earlier this year in Los Angeles Superior Court.
